1.
i heard a voice come from far away / i heard a voice, it said 'son leave this place, don't stay around here.' / i took for the road that heads towards the city / and far down that road i still heard cries for me from love and family. / where are we going and why are we here / the things we don't know become things that we fear / don't stay around here. / once apart, you stole back my heart from a world that is truly unfair. / keeping stoned a lot, falling far from the start, into something which i can't relate. / once apart, you stole back my heart from a world that is truly unfair / i have untied the knot, falling far from the start, on a trail from which i can't see straight. / so fucked up i couldn't pretend / these maps on which i can't depend / archangels from heaven descend.
2.
there is a lantern in the sun (don't put it out) / evaporate the words (in this incantation) / ha / there is a lantern in the sun (don't put it out) / i see your radiation glowing candle light. / i don't want to put it out / ha / there is a lantern in your eyes (don't put it out) / now it's a light in my room keeping me awake. / i don't want to put it out.
3.
Unwise 03:16
it would be unwise to love somebody than yourself / you should be so kind to love nobody else / take another time to care for others needing help / take all of your time to take care of yourself. / you should be so wise to look out for yourself / recognize what you need more than anybody else / take another time to care for others needing help / it would be unwise to love somebody than yourself. / you took a part of me i left for no one else / i did not notice that i had forgot myself / you forgot me, i forgot me, and i lost myself. / you forgot me, i forgot me, now i'm someone else.
4.
Pure Science 03:50
just a bitter glance in a crystal ball / thinking pure science all night long / is there something more at work or just a chemical bond; am i better off? (away)/ a long way from here. / all cool people seem to come and go / eternal waves of the ebb and flow (uh huh) / i get lost and can't find out: where are the faces i know? think i'm better off (away) / a long way from here. / i am better off gone, if you are better off gone / impressions in the sandstone / petrified in tree sap / sinking in the trenches / or buried in the badlands / i am better off gone, if you are better off. / just the final fade of a distant song / there is nothing left to hear at all / metamorphic ground eroding will not hold us for long; think i'm better off (away) /a long way from here. / in my dreams some egos will fall / someone called great is no one at all / you can all fuck off and i won't care, you keep wasting my time; think you're better off (away) / a long way from here. / i am better off gone, if you are better off gone / impressions in the sandstone / petrified in tree sap / sinking in the salt lakes / or buried in the badlands / i am better off gone, if you are better off here.
5.
walls and walls and walls enclosures you / take a roll of tape to fix you to / something in the carpets now / is waiting for you to come down and / take a little nap where you will find / christmas toys on a dotted line / follow them back to the wall / tape yourself again and await the send fall. / i will always lose you / but you just stand still / dust fills your eyelashes and a spider crawls / and it will take you some time / take us some time / if we ever / want to get out alive.
6.
Anglerfish 04:19
there's a city underground / and the weather is raging / the bricks are falling down / and the lanterns are fading / the city peels like bark / with colonies of ants in sight / i stand lost in all the dark / amongst the zombies of the night. / there's an elevator shaft / with a cranking motor hum / from the ocean comes a draft / til our skin feels like carborundum / the pin light of cigarettes / from the skeletal scaffolding (i waited there) / as the sedated sun sets / i wonder where i'm truly going. / the scent of the stale first aid kit / broken supplies and tins / spilled across the car in transit. / alone in bed static snaps / with every bed sheet fold / as into the covers i collapse. / in limbo on the interstate / til i cannot drive anymore / then to hotels of Norman Bates / and sleep in the hallway floor / dreaming of shepherds or the wolves - they are often one in the same / til i stumble back to the car / through the pins and needles of rain.
7.
lie down now in the morning you'll feel ok / lock the door crawl in the cave on the cold ground / in light we see everything's a broken puzzle / the Colossus turns to rubble and i'm lost in debris / protests in the back of the throat / my head is swimming and it cannot float / when the northern star is clouds, we'll drown / maybe you were right, yes i am a wicked liar / lost in the widening gyre of the darkened night / through walls come the sounds of the thoughtless interrogations / like the wrath of warring nations who won't back down. / protests in the back of the throat /my head is swimming and it cannot float / when the northern star is clouds, we'll drown. / in dark waters we can't see / all the rocks that lie beneath / when the lighthouse crumbles down / we'll run aground. / lie down now in the morning you'll feel ok / lock the door crawl in the cave on the cold ground / in light we see everything's a broken puzzle / still we go through all the trouble, though nothing agrees.
8.
let's flip a coin to see if we roll a dice / a second guess must always land precise / it's far too easy to regret some things / forever bent on building a time machine. / remember i told you, take note of all that you see / mistakes are pointless if you don't learn anything / time is a bird of prey in the setting sun / we cannot strike him dead, but we can make him run. / you never understand when it's time. / you never understand when it's time to say goodbye. / they want to shut us down, yet what have we done wrong? the sound of our leaving footsteps is a quiet song. / they want us to run though, yeah, the chase is a game / but how far can we go with only a dollar to our name?
9.
i need slow down time; half-speed light / recall the plays; cue rewind / plots of fake trees, won't help us breathe / falling leaves and plastic vines. / daylight savings again, more time to spend / or same i guess just move the dial. / no, there won't be time for all that we want / the sun will set too / sand passing through the ether falls to ground. / all messed up, but feeling fine / when all looks same yet seems not right. / talk to some friends (what did they say?) / everything will be alright / take vitamins, forget it all / watch the morning turn to night. / no, there won't be time for all that we want / clouds drift from view / glaciers in the arctic valleys will melt down. / until no ice is left to be / we push an empty vessel to sea / when nothing can be found from port to starboard / we cannot turn around or start this over now. / and it's dead reckoning now here, i know it / and i should not be so sure now / i know it's hard to say, when to steer or drift the way. / feeling of travelling distance / but then we're sailing right to the doldrums / i know it's hard to say, if things could be any other way. / show some signs or hope for good fortune / i am not so sure now / i know it's hard to say, 'something's wrong' or to make a change.
10.
after all the time grows lost / oscillations, ticking clocks / Cherenkov radiation in full bloom / but i'll never know just what we're passing through. / static in the air, i know / light expanding, LED glow / waves go out of phase and fall from tune (tune) / electronics fail and shut down far too soon (like right now.)
11.
there are grey clouds moving overhead / as you stare at the ceiling from the shelter of your bed / and with every movement every muscle hurts / with a blanket on your shoulders that feels just like a curse / and they said 'oh my god, oh my god' / (you can't stay around here, with the closing gates, where it gets so cold you can't feel your face, come on.) / at night walls seem to creak and moan / in hymns that you only hear alone / walk the hallways while quietly burning sage / watch the sun come up as you count the days / and they said 'oh my god, oh my god' / (you can't stay around here, in the closing gates, before all gets lost and this is...) / there are grey clouds looming overhead / while the winds pick up and the trees start to bend / and still no one listens, no one learns / keep inside and quietly mouth these words / and go cry: 'oh my god, oh my god' / (burning sage and slowly count the days, unless all gets lost and this is too late. lock your doors and keep all amulets close and think of the ones you love the most. watching out from the peephole of your door, when the birds outside cry 'nevermore' / when the birds outside cry 'nevermore'...) i'm not afraid.
12.
in the melting of the night / through the dark i see a light / polluting all within its glowing reach / casting shadows from the rocks and trees / til there's nothing left to find here.
13.
hey wake up, grab a cup / and read the weather from the paper / today is gonna be a rain chaser. / it's a lachrymal fixation / try to wash the situation / with today's precipitation / down a riverbed stained azure and deep / that flows waterfalls and kisses cheeks / laying on beach chairs in the pouring rain / falling like lead tears on judgement day / when you know i'm trying. / know i'm trying to forget you. / hey starlight, star bright / yes, the moon affects the tides but nothing can change the way i feel tonight / the dark river glistens like black obsidian / and swallows us whole by the singing sirens. / still the rain won't slow and i'm left all alone / worn down to these bones i call my own. / laying on beach chairs in the pouring rain / come waterfalls wash away my pain / 'cause you know i'm trying / know i'm trying to forget you. / know i'm trying to...
